Counselling services

Our experienced counsellors provide compassionate counselling, however, we are not a crisis support service.

We see clients for a range of issues including:

  • anxiety and depression
  • relationship difficulties
  • bereavement and loss
  • trauma
  • family and domestic violence
  • parenting concerns
  • low self-esteem
  • perinatal anxiety, depression and concerns
  • support for carers
  • and a range of other emotional issues.

Referrals are not necessary.  You can simply phone us on 9431 0500 and leave your contact details with one of our friendly staff.   You will be advised of the current wait time for a counselling appointment at that initial contact.

Short-term counselling of up to 10 sessions is available.  Or you may prefer to be involved in one of the groups facilitated by one of our counsellors.

We offer a sliding scale of fees for counselling sessions, which takes into account your level of income. Fees can be negotiated or waived depending on your circumstances. Please note, to access services at the Centre, you pay an annual support fee of $40 per year.  A concession rate of $15 per year is available and this fee may be waived if you are unable to pay.

Our counselling services are very popular and wait times for appointments can vary, although there is usually a wait of at least a few weeks.  Please contact us for more information.

Perinatal counselling

If you are experiencing antenatal or postnatal depression, anxiety and/or stress, individual counselling or group participation is available.

One of our counsellors facilitates an ongoing weekly postnatal support group – Time Out for Mums at our Fremantle premises. Postnatal support groups of nine weeks duration are provided periodically in facilities in the City of Cockburn council area.

Counselling for Carers

A carer is someone who provides unpaid care and support to family members and friends who have a disability, mental illness, chronic condition, terminal illness, an alcohol or other drug issue, or who are frail aged.

If you are a carer, thanks to Carer’s WA you can access the Counselling for Carers service provided by Carer’s WA for free on our premises.  Counselling for Carers is available on Tuesdays on a fortnightly basis.  Appointments can be made by phoning Carer’s WA at 1300 227 377.
