Health promotion

Health and wellness presentations

In response to community needs and to promote particular health issues, we provide health promotion presentations. By utilising our own staff expertise as well as organising guest speakers, we respond to requests from community organisations and educational facilities to give presentations.

Health promotion events

We organise and participate in various public health promotion events throughout the Fremantle, Cockburn and Melville regions.

Each year in partnership with BreastScreen WA and the City of Fremantle, we organise a free Fremantle Women’s Health and Wellbeing Expo.

The last expo was held at the Fremantle Town Hall in October 2017.  With over 40 stalls providing information and services, nine different health promoting activities for women to try, a crèche facility and entertainment, it was hugely popular. Planning is already underway for this year’s event.

Act Belong Commit

FWHC is a site partner of the Act-Belong-Commit health promotion campaign. Act-Belong-Commit is a community-based health promotion campaign that encourages people to take action to improve their mental health and wellbeing.

This evidence-based campaign was developed primarily from research undertaken by Curtin University into people’s perceptions of mental health and the behaviours they believed protected and promoted good mental health.

As the brand name suggests, people can build positive mental health by keeping physically, mentally, spiritually and socially active (Act); by keeping involved in family and community activities and participating in community events (Belong); and by taking on challenges or causes that provide meaning and purpose in their lives (Commit).
